Update---Amber's First Book
Hello Everyone, my name is Amber and I wanted to post a little bit about my first book, and the progress I have made so far.
I am writing my book in the first person. It is geared towards young adults, and is a post-apocalyptic drama. So far it is more of a novella, roughly 30,000 words. The first draft is done, so now I am going to sit on it for a while, do some proofreading, and consider if there are parts that need to be built up more.
The main character is a girl named Brenna, who is fifteen. Her parents have been separated for about three months when the apocalyptic event occurs, and she is still struggling with the emotions that go along with that. She is also feeling the disappointments that can come with the high school dating scene.
I don't want to say too much about the apocalyptic event in my book. except to say that it is one that has been done before. That said, as the story evolves, I intend to put some new twists on this genre.
So far I am very excited about this project, and will provide more details as it gets closer to publication.
